The Sri Lanka College of Journalism (SLCJ)
SLCJ offers Sri Lankas first and only one-year full time diploma course in journalism. The course mixes theory and hands on training in order to mold the students into professional journalists. As the diploma course is backed by the media industry, most of the students secure jobs even before graduating from the college.
The SLCJ also offers a number of shorter mid-career courses for working journalists. The programmes are normally one-week long and covers areas such as Infographics, Globalization and On-Line Journalism. The courses are open for all working journalists in Sri Lanka.
A third programme targets provincial journalists all over the island focusing on basic journalistic skills.
All SLCJ programmes are in Sri Lanka’s three languages: Tamil, Sinhala and English and give training in radio, TV, print and new media.
